I can count on one hand the friends I have that I can talk about my favorite artists with

Meh, I’ll throw my 30th bday playlist in here too, since I’ve used the thumbnail for this post’s photo. Enjoy!

I want to (I will!) divest from Spotify soon. Soon.

Happy Thoughts is a playlist I made when I was probably really sad. The songs are upbeat, and I must not have made it too long ago because it features one of my favorite songs from Cowboy Carter. There really isn’t much in terms of curation or order, so you can put it on shuffle.

“but Grace, you’re a catch!” is one that I made shortly after I realized that I’d been ghosted by a rather unserious man (he’s been described as speaking “like a Shel Silverstein poem”). I was much more in my head about it than I wanted to be, so I tried to make my version of a Bad Bitch playlist. It was somewhat successful, I think. I never want to listen to it though, so that could mean that 1) I’ve moved on and don’t need to be pumped up in quite the same way anymore or 2) my music rotation is getting stale. It’s probably both, but you should check it out all the same. Or don’t! This blog is mostly a void!

…should I put my demos on here? I mean, if you can call them demos. They’re just voice note recordings of songs I’ve written. I’m super hesitant to share them because they don’t have any accompaniment, so they feel unfinished in the most basic of ways, but maybe I should stick them in their own post and deactivate it until I’m good and ready. That’s half a step toward progress, right?

Going through my Spotify just now, I’m reminded that I asked friends for their playlists months ago as I was in search of new music. Finding new artists to get into always feels like a slog to me, so it’s funny to see that past me had already taken steps to solve that problem. I won’t link them here because I don’t have anyone’s permission, but I’m looking forward to digging into them on my upcoming commutes.

And just for a look into the chaos of living in the Northeast in 2025, here’s a playlist I made shortly after becoming acquainted with either a small rat or large mouse in my New Jersey apartment. I assumed that, after understanding just how useless NJ supers are, I’d have to get rid of it (them?) myself. Bought a trap and everything. It’s called Rat Disposal. It features the songs that I think you’d expect.
