“Please describe your art practice” again.
I edited the hell out of my personal statement several months ago, with help from some of my favorite collaborators: Ifeanyi Awachie, Tochukwu Awachie, and WhimZee Hanna. I’m excited to draw from it for future fellowships and residencies, as it hits just about everything that excites me about art, and the art that only I can make.

Going through my Spotify just now, I’m reminded that I asked friends for their playlists months ago as I was in search of new music. Finding new artists to get into always feels like a slog to me, so it’s funny to see that past me had already taken steps to solve that problem. I won’t link them here because I don’t have anyone’s permission, but I’m looking forward to digging into them on my upcoming commutes.

I started working on this prompt in an attempt to apply for Mitu’s Hybrid Art and Technology residency, following an outline from Caterina Maina Photography’s blog post. It’s a rough draft and will eventually be under 500 words, but it’s detailed and I think I hit every aspect.
